Concrete, stone, pavers, and tile are all compatible. The surface needs to support outdoor exposure and the build-up height added by the insulation layer and cable below it. The installer confirms surface compatibility during the pre-install assessment.

Even coverage depends on cable spacing and zone layout. Large or irregularly shaped areas are divided into zones so each section gets the right output. A layout check before installation maps spacing to the actual area dimensions.

Once a concrete slab is poured or pavers are set and grouted, adding radiant heat means removing the finished surface. Installing during a remodel or new build avoids that cost entirely. Waiting adds surface removal and reconstruction to the project scope.
